Borderlands 2 Review

So I'm going to be changing the way I write a review now. Instead of making categories, im just goign to write my honest opinion with a score at the end.

So lets start off with the fact that borderlands 2 is an amazing game period. The story is much better than its predecessor, and the variety of guns and enemies is vastly improved as well. Not only did I rarely have the same gun type with the same colors, I saw a huge variety of enemies constantly.

Instead of constantly fighting skags, psychos and spiderants (obviously there were more), we fight a bigger variety of enemies. The new robots from Handsome Jack's army can get tough to fight, and the bullymongs are some pretty cool enemies.

With a second play through, the enemy variety changes once again. I personally haven't had time to play my "True Vault Hunter" mode a lot, but I have already noticed a new kind of enemy for example the armored psycho .

As I said before, the story had something going towards it this time around. Unlike the first Borderlands, you aren't doing quests and then progressing further towards the game. This time around, you get more of an understanding of why you are doing the main story missions.

The story was simple and made sense, but the ending sure didn't. I found the ending to be a little uneventful. I don't want to go around spoiling anything if no one has finished the game but it could have been a little more cinematic.

SPOILER ALERT!!! DO NOT READ PARAGRAPH RIGHT UNDER THIS WARNING IF YOU DO NOT WANT STORY SPOILED
The final boss was great and it takes skill and time to kill him (her maybe?), but after that, the way you kill Jack is just so uneventful. You just shoot him and hes dead. Really Gearbox? I mean the final cutscene was definitely something like a cliffhanger, and it might hint towards more Borderlands games, but the way you kill Jack was just plain dumb. I get you have the fight and all that, but maybe even a cinematic?

Well I still loved the game nether less, and moving away from the story, I'm going to talk about the graphics. Its the same carttony style that we all loved from the first game with some more enhancements and some pretty cool effects. One example is when you first launch the game. You will be in a snowy area and flakes will appear to be hitting your camera screen which is pretty cool.

The guns have great detail put into them and although i miraculously found literally 2 of the same gun (no joke, same name same company, stats, etc.) the game has a HUGE array of different guns too be found. One example is the gun that looks like it has rims at the bottom of it. I saw the gun in the trailer, but finally got my first one in my second play through.

The sounds are great but my friends and I all experienced a part of the game where when we shot our gun, no sound would come out. We could hear our player jumping and whatnot, but not the gun shot. Worst thing is that this also happened right before we fought the final boss, but we fixed it by exiting the game and continuing.

The same old western music feeling comes when you play the game, so it makes you feel a bit like you are playing Borderlands 1, and the new songs fit in great.

The menu also looks very nice compared to the old menu. Although we dont get to hear our little claptrap buddy when we are deciding which character to choose, the makeover was a change for the better and looks kinda like Diablo 3's menu.

Before fighting the final boss, Claptrap will say something that definitely made my friends and me laugh, so try to look for that one before heading into the final area of the game.

Overall, the game is great and is a must buy if you were a fan of Borderlands 1. The game can keep you entertained for hours with different side quests and the infamous slot machine (seriously that thing will suck you in).

GRADE: 9.5/10
